The Israelites rejected God’s promises and the result was they “wandered around a long time (40 yrs!) (1).” The doubters were “eliminated” (15) by God and not one received the promises of God.
God then spoke to the remnant, “Do not be afraid … for I have given you victory” (3:1). Will they receive it or wander? Will we? “Do not be afraid … for the Lord your God will fight for you” (3:22).
I tremble when I read of Moses pleading with God to change His mind and God “was angry and He would not listen … That’s Enough! He declared. Speak of it no more” (3:26).
We must obey God immediately and completely to receive His promises of victory and prosperity.
Jesus prayed all night and acted the next morning on His Father’s revelation by choosing twelve men who turned the world upside down.
The law of sowing and reaping is explained by Jesus and then summarized in v. 38 –“The measure you give will be the measure you get back.”
